The WAVESIX Story

Julia Marshall-Wessendorf, the Founder of WAVESIX, came up with the idea for the app after witnessing a need for it herself.

Julia was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in 2011, shortly after the birth of her third child. What followed was a long health journey.

Julia decided to take her health into her own hands

At some stage the possibility of having Lyme Disease arose, but the experts couldn’t decide which illness it was and, with treatments varying so dramatically, Julia felt initially confused and lost. Eventually it became clear that she had to take more responsibility for finding a solution.

She began working with a nutritional therapist and changed her diet to support her goal of becoming as healthy as possible, so her body could keep any diseases in check. It worked, but more importantly it put Julia in charge of her own health.

For several years on this health journey Julia tried various treatments and supplements. Some worked, others didn’t. She would keep a notebook about the food she ate and her energy score that day, but found it much too limiting as she began to realise how many more factors were playing a part.

Julia couldn’t find a solution so she made one

Julia searched for a digital tool or app that she could use to record multiple aspects of her life but there was none. The available trackers all focused on one aspect only, e.g. sleep or fitness or mindfulness. She realised that a more holistic approach was needed. She started to think about a possible digital solution and the more she learned about lifestyle, functional and personalised medicine the six categories to track emerged.

Now, more than 12 years after her diagnosis, Julia is free of MS symptoms, doesn’t take any medication and is healthier than she has been in her adult life. Equally importantly, she has realised that it’s not just her. So many people are struggling with health and other issues. Yet they lack the ability to spot the things that bring them down or lift them up. That’s why Julia decided to create WAVESIX. To give people the tool to easily take responsibility of their own health and wellbeing.
